Problems with EBSCO and SFX

The Library has had reports from number of off-campus students who have been unable to access the full text of EBSCO electronic journals. Students searching the catalogue by ‘journal title’ eg. Journal of Socio Economics, 2000, vol.29, pp.517- , following the link to ‘click here’ and completing the details in the subsequent SFX window, receive the following error msg:

“To allow /login to work, your EZproxy administrator must first authorize this within the ezproxy.cfg file. Within this database’s section of the file, the following line must be added: Host”

The Library web team have made this change to the proxy server, but it has not fixed the problem. Off-campus students are still able to download the same full text article(s) if they access the article or journal directly via the EBSCO database! The problem appears to be related to the SFX links used by the recently loaded periodical holdings. We are still working on this problem, but in the meantime off-campus students who experience this problem can use the alternative access available directly from the EBSCO database. Unfortunately, the catalogue record does not show which EBSCO database holds the journal. We suggest checking the ‘Academic research premier’ database in the first instance and search by the title of the article that you require. This is the largest of the EBSCO databases, and duplicates some of the content in the other subject specific databases, such as ‘Business Source Premier’.

Please contact the Library using ‘Ask a Question’ if you require any further help.
