Internet search giant Google has purchased the video hosting site YouTube for a massive 1.65 billion dollars in stock.
YouTube will continue to operate independantly, while the companies will work together on improving the video-sharing experience for independant users as well as aspiring producers.
Around 100 million videos are available on YouTube on any given day, with around 20 million visitors per month to the site. The growing power of social networking through video was a driving force behind Google’s purchase of YouTube. For more information on the deal visit ZDNet
