Hot topics on the Library wiki

Hot topics on the Library wiki this week are:

  • the Library web site. What’s wrong with it? What works? Suggestions for improvement
  • the Library catalogue. There should be more information about the book (contents page, summary) included in the catalogue so that DE students and students at other campuses know if it is worth borrowing.
  • Citation linker. The name is confusing and needs to be changed to something more obvious.

What do you think?

  1. i really enjoy being able to get books from the library to read for enjoyment but it is SOOOOOOO annoying to find that you read the first book in a series and you don’t have the rest! you havent got the last book of the robert jordan series or all of the david eddings books either and ive checked all of the other libraries as well but it would be good to get them all at the one library

  2. Hi Anonymous,
we don’t do it on purpose 🙂 We generally buy what’s available at the time in occasional bursts of recreational reading purchasing. I will ensure that we purchase the “last book of the Robert Jordan series” as soon as we get the 2007 budget and I’ll look into getting further David Eddings books as well. I can’t promise to have them “all at the one library” because students at all campuses like rec. reading, but with free Inter-Campus Loans and the ability for you to place a hold on any item, that shouldn’t be too much of a problem for you. In the meantime, don’t forget your local public library for good recreational reading too.

    thanks for the feedback,
