Check out these out visual search engines the next time you need to find images for your study or pleasure.
- altavista image search – searches can be limited to photos, graphics or buttons/banners, and by colour, source and size (this is a great search engine).
- alltheweb picture search – searches by file format (jpeg, gif, bmp), image type and background.
- Ditto.com – enables people to navigate the Web through
pictures. Ditto claims to have the largest searchable index of images on the web.
- picsearch – indexes 1,700,000,000 plus images. Use the advanced search option to limit your search to animations, colour images, black and white, and by size.
- Google image search – also claims to be the largest searchable index on the web. Advanced search does not offer the options available in ‘picsearch’.
I used altavista to search for a question mark button for a web page that I am creating. I found some great buttons. Thank you.

Thanks for this. I’m a bit lazy and usually only use google but I’ve added a couple of these to my favourites.
