Google Dictionary

In the world of dictionaries, people have always had their trusted source – Oxford, Cambridge, Macquarie… Google? The number of online dictionaries has rapidly increased and a recent article on ZDNet.com suggests that Google has improved its dictionary so much that all it could mean the end to other online dictionary services:

“Although google.com/dictionary used to provide aggregated definitions for words from various dictionary resources online, it’s now a full-blown dictionary tool that leverages Google’s translation technology and provides concise definitions and synonyms.”

  1. Why the advertorial for this lunacy? Have a look at its definition of “Aborigine”. Incorrect. Nor does it have a correct definition for “library”. Then again Google Dictionary is not a dictionary by Google Dictionary’s own definition.
