Upcoming Change to EndNote Password Policy

EndNote has announced a new password expiration policy as part of its ongoing commitment to account security and best practice standards.

From 12th February 2026, all EndNote user accounts will need to update their password every 180 days.

What you need to know

  • If your current password is more than 180 days old, you’ll soon start to see prompts to create a new one.
  • You’ll receive reminders as your password approaches its expiration date to ensure uninterrupted access.

Action recommended before February 2026

To avoid access issues, please take a moment to check your account details:

  1. Visit www.myendnoteweb.com and log in.
  2. Go to Options > E-mail Address to make sure the email linked to your account is one you can still access.
  3. If needed, update your password under Options > Password.
  4. You can also reset your password anytime via the Forgot Password page.

Important: If you no longer have access to the email address linked to your EndNote account, you must update it before February 2026. Otherwise, you may be locked out once the new policy takes effect.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the library.
