May is Information Awareness Month!

The library is promoting Information Awareness Month (IAM)  during May to increase public awareness of information and its place in all aspects of daily life. The theme for Information Awareness Month is “Information as a Service” also includes Library and Information Week “Imagine” May 25 to 31.
The Australian Library and Information network (ALIA) is launching a Freedom of Access to Information and Resources (FAIR) campaign .
ALIA is also the proud host of Library and Information Week.The cornerstone event of the week is National Simultaneous Storytime, an annual campaign to encourage young Australians everywhere to read and enjoy books. This year National NSS takes place on Wednesday 27 May at 11am (AEST) with the book “The Brothers Quibble” by Aaron Blabey. The Institute of Information Management are hosting workshops in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne around the theme of how personal information can be utilised and protected in the cloud from a business and personal perspective. More details on these events are on their website.
