Born in Poland in 1917, Dr Nowik came to Australia in the mid 1960’s with the US manufacturer Mars Incorporated. Dr Nowik was a strong supporter of regional development, particularly of the Albury/Wodonga region. His passion also developed into a long relationship with CSU including:
- Member of the governing council of Riverina College of Advanced Education 1972-78.
- Support of the annual Henry Nowik public lecture series
- CSU student scholarships
In 1993, CSU conferred a Doctor of Letters (honoris causa) for his generosity and immeasurable support to CSU and named the main lecture theatre in Albury in his honour.
In 2012, Dr and Mrs Kathy Nowik attended the naming ceremony of the Nowik Learning Commons at Thurgoona (read more here) which includes the Albury/Wodonga Campus Library.
