Great Book Swap 2026 – $1,400 raised!

Thanks to the generous donations of students and staff, our 2026 Great Book Swap exceeded this year’s target by 40 per cent!

Across all campuses we collected $1400 for this annual fundraising initiative for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) and its work in remote First Nations Communities. Charles Sturt University has now raised over $11,000 since we first began supporting this important charity in 2017.

The ILF partners with remote First Nations Communities to provide the books and literacy resources they request. Donations help place culturally relevant books into the hands of children in remote communities across Australia.

Throughout September, Great Book Swap stalls were set up across each campus, offering everything from cookbooks to cosy mysteries – and occasionally cake! This event simultaneously promotes reading as a great leisure activity while also providing staff and students with an opportunity to contribute to improving literacy and equality in First Nation Communities.

Book donations for 2027 are welcome all year round. Simply drop books into your nearest campus Library during business hours – donations should be in good condition, non-textbook and suitable for a broad audience.
