It’s here and ready for our academics and researchers to use: Charles Sturt Journal Finder – Open access publishing – Library Guides at Charles Sturt University
The Charles Sturt Journal Finder helps researchers explore potentially suitable journals and make more informed decisions about where to publish, by searching and filtering a large journal dataset, exploring related journal titles, and surfacing useful information about different publishing options.
Some of the features include:
- information about Gold, Hybrid and Diamond Open Access, as well as Article Processing Charges
- direct links to journal websites (where available) so users can check the latest submission and publishing information
- links to journal open access and self-archiving policies via Jisc’s Open Policy Finder
- journal matching using ISSNs and keywords
- a comprehensive About & Help section covering how to use the tool and the data sources behind it
- a Key section explaining the different journal tags
- a “last updated” date shown on the homepage
- a copy function so key journal details can easily be pasted into a document, email or notes
- accessibility, inclusion, equity and cultural-safety improvements incorporated into the design
The Charles Sturt Journal Finder brings together information from a range of sources, including:
- CAUL Open Access Publishing Agreements
- Publisher-direct agreements
- SCImago Journal Rankings
- RPI-specific information
- Diamond Open Access journals (SCImago)
- JISC Open Policy Finder
The tool is designed as a starting point rather than the final word. Journal websites and the CAUL publishing list should always be checked for the most up-to-date information, and researchers still need to make considered publishing decisions.
