X-Ray Day, also known as the International Day of Radiology (IDOR), is celebrated internationally on November 8th every year, the anniversary of the day X-Rays were discovered in Germany by Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen in 1895. The theme of this years IDOR is Cardiac Imaging, to highlight the increasingly important role of radiologists in cardiac care.
One of Australia’s early users of X-Ray technology was Father Joseph Patrick Slattery, who was based mere blocks away from the CSU campus at Bathurst. Father Slattery’s pioneering work with X-Rays began in 1896, and he is regarded by many as having greatly extended the boundaries of knowledge of this new branch of science.
