Today is White Ribbon Day! It is Australia’s national day for raising awarness of men’s violence against women, and how to prevent it in our community.
Domestic violence is not going away. Statistics from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (2017) show that 1 in 2 women has experienced sexual harassment during her lifetime. On average, one woman a week is murdered by her current or former partner (by Australian Institute of Criminology).
The White Ribbon Australia campaign is about change – changing actions and current attitutes, changing the silence surrounding violence towards women, and creating a future where women can live in safety, free from violence and abuse.
