Earlier this year, the Library shared a recap of everything we got up to during Orientation Session 30. Take a look back at our previous post: Orientation 2026: We loved meeting you. For Session 60, some familiar activities returned by popular demand, while others grew and evolved to help you start the session with confidence. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to.

A few places we crossed paths

We loved joining the Online Welcome Event and meeting many of our newest students. Starting university comes with plenty of questions, so it was great to introduce students to Library services and explain where to find support. Whether you’re studying on campus or online, we’re always here to help when you need us.

After launching our new Library Unlocked workshop earlier this year, we brought it back for Session 60! When developing the workshop, we asked students what would help them feel more confident navigating the Library and what they most wanted to know in their first few weeks at university. Their answers helped shape the session, making sure it focuses on the information students find most useful when they’re getting started all in 15 minutes.

Some things you might have discovered

Alongside the central Orientation events, we tried a few things designed to make getting started feel a little easier (and a little more fun).

The Library Orientation Checklist

Some students told us you liked having Library Orientation information collected in one place, so the Library Orientation Checklist returned for Session 60. It brings together many of the things students ask us about during the first few weeks of session, including finding resources, accessing support, borrowing from the Library and using our spaces. We also added more information about eBooks after many of you told us you’d like a little more guidance getting started with digital resources. Explore the Library Orientation Checklist.

Library Codebreak went multi-campus

In Session 30, we trialled Library Codebreak in Wagga Wagga. You told us you enjoyed the challenge and that it helped you learn more about Library spaces and services along the way.

So for Session 60, we took the idea and went bigger! This time, every campus piloted its own version of Library Codebreak, inviting students to solve clues, explore the Library and discover resources, services and spaces they may not have found otherwise.

One of the things you told us you’d like more help with was understanding what the Library offers and how to make the most of our spaces. Library Codebreak gave students the chance to do exactly that, while having a bit of fun along the way.

First Time on Campus modules and audio tours

Orientation week might come and go, but we know many students start at different times or prefer to learn at their own pace. That’s why our First Time on Campus modules and self-guided audio tours are available year-round, helping students get familiar with the Library, explore our spaces and find support whenever they’re ready. If you haven’t explored the First Time on Campus modules yet, they’re sitting in the A-Library support site whenever you’re ready.

The audio tours are also perfect if you:

• arrived after Orientation week
• like to learn by doing
• prefer a quieter way to get familiar with a space

There are QR codes in our library spaces where the tours begin. Scan and go – you don’t even need to create an account or log in. Or, you can find them on Soundcloud. Each tour is less than 10 minutes and will guide you through the whole space but you can also pause at anytime.

If you discovered something new during Orientation, that’s exactly what we hoped for. And if you’re still figuring things out, that’s completely normal too.
