A library with no books? How about only e-books. It’s coming to a county in Texas.
“The ever changing landscape of technology means that literacy is no longer about picking up a physical book and being able to comprehend the words,” Judge Nelson Wolff said. “Technology is changing the way we read, learn and thrive as citizens of the 21st Century.”
Bexar County is in the early stages of planning a book-less library. “Instead of aisles and aisles of books there will be aisles and aisles of computers and gadgets”. ‘BiblioTech’ will allow visitors to borrow e-readers from an Apple inspired centre. There will also be laptops and tablets on site along with e-readers for children and an interactive children’s area.
